Stay Local * Places to go!
  • Scrapbook your outings...snap a few pictures and make a scrapbook of all your memories.
  • Go to the UCM Rock Wall
  • Visit the Old Court House on Main Street and New Court House on Holden Street
  • Go for a Picnic in the Park!  In Warrensburg you can visit Cave Hollow, Blind Boone Park, Grover or Shepard Park right here behind the BBBS office!   
  • Go for hike in Knob Noster at the beautiful state park on one of their many trails.   
  • Go fishing!  Local fishing available at Pertle Springs in Warrensburg, Hazel Hill just 5 miles outside of Warrensburg, Sullivan Lake or Morel Lake both located just a couple miles outside of Knob Noster and Redbud Lake just 1 mile from Knob Noster.  Or make a day of it and visit Truman Lake just outside of Clinton.  
  • Visit the Johnson County Historical Society at 302 North Main in Warrensburg.  Tours available...visit online to see upcoming activities.   
  • 138 West Pine in Warrensburg is the home to the most stuff around...visit Those were the Days to rediscover old items, find new things and perhaps discover a new hobby.
  • Buckeye Acres is the home to one of Warrensburg's greatest spots.   From the best pumpkin patch to picking blackberries this is a fun place to go! Visit www.buckeye-acres.com to see all of their upcoming activities.  
  • Twisters Sports is located just 3 miles north of Warrensburg and offers batting cages and other fun outings!   www.twistersports.com
  • Visit the Indoor Pool and Nassif Outdoor Swimming Pool in Warrensburg.
  • 4th of July Fire works provided at Grover Park church by the Community Center.
  • Contact the office for tickets to any UCM Sporting event!  They have so so many different ones!
  • Spending an evening with Cosmic Bowl at the UCM Bowling Center.
Kansas City/Lees Summit/Independence Area
  • Go to the Kansas City Zoo.  Cost: Adults $16; Children $13 (ages 3-11).  
  • Drive-in Movie.  Independence B&B Twin Theater: Adults $10; Children Free (10 & Below)
  • Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, Overland Park, KS.  Tickets: $2
  • Travel totally free on the KC Streetcar to discover some of the most vibrant places in KC.
  • Tour the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center recognizing the vast contributions that African Americans have made to the development of Kansas City.
  • Located in Independence, MO visit the hands on Children's Peace Pavilion.  
  • Visit the historic River Market area in Kansas City.  
  • Crown Center is a downtown favorite with great dining, restaurants, and attractions.  Also home to outdoor movies, and live music during the summer.
  • Visit the Money Museum and learn about the Federal Reserve.  See the region's largest cash vault, lift a 27-pound gold bar and view President Harry S. Truman's extensive coin collection.
  • KC is the city of fountains.   More than 200 majestic fountains...go on a hunt to see as many as possible.  
  • Kauffman Legacy Park boasts more than 7000 plants and water features.  
  • Historic Central Library Branch...where the building looks like books.   Visitors can enjoy movies in the old bank's vault, see a variety of exhibits and attend special events.  
  • The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a world class treasure located right in the heart of Kansas City.   Make sure to visit the large shuttlecocks on the south lawn for a pictures.
  • Visit the Legacy Park Amphitheater  for fun shows!
  • Paradise Park in Lees Summit is home to lots of fun things for children of all ages.
  • Visit Lea McKeighan Park located at 125 NE Chipman Road in Lees Summit.  
  • KC Union Station is home to many traveling exhibits and Science City.
